With this win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This is India's 10th consecutive series win against England on home soil.
These encounters take place amid Assembly polls in the union territory which are being conducted for the first time since abrogation of Article 370, ten years back. Security is heightened in the sensitive areas for the smooth functioning of polls.

Despite losing the first ODI while batting first, England's captain chose to bat first in Cuttack as well with three changes in the playing XI. Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer and Jacob Bethell were rested and Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton and Mark Wood were added in this match.
India made two changes and brought back Virat Kohli, who missed the last match due to an injury. Varun Chakravarthy replaced Kuldeep Yadav and made his ODI debut at the age of 33 years old. He became the second oldest player to make his ODI debut for India.
Phil Salt and Ben Duckett gave a blistering start but Salt lost his wicket to Chakravarthy in his second over. Duckett added followed him and departed after making 65 off 56 balls.
Joe Root (69 off 72 balls) and Harry Brook (31 off 52 balls) added 66 runs for the third wicket. Jos Buttler (34) and Liam Livingstone (44) made quick runs to help their team reach past 300 runs. England could not play the whole 50 overs and were bowled out for 304 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled brilliantly again and took three wickets in the match. He has conceded only two boundaries in this series so far. Rana, Shami, Pandya and Chakravarthy also took one wicket each.
In response, Indian openers Shubman Gill and captain Sharma gave a brilliant start and added 136 runs for the first wicket. Sharma completed his 32nd ODI century in just 76 balls and scored his second-fastest ODI ton.
Gill made 60 off 52 balls and completed his back-to-back fifty in the series. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel also played crucial knocks. Jadeja played the winning shot as India won the match by four wickets with 33 balls to spare.
Now, India will face England in the last and final ODI match on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
