Despite seeing six break points go begging in the first set, Fonseca controlled the subsequent tie-break to draw first blood.

The Brazilian looked set to wrap up victory at 5-3 up in the second set, but lost the next four games as Djere hit back to force a final set - Fonseca's third of the week.

Nevertheless, Fonseca dominated the decider to become the youngest South American ATP Tour finalist since Jose Acasuso (also in Buenos Aires) in 2001, and youngest on clay since Alcaraz four years ago.

"[It's] really special," he said. "Today was really difficult, against a really good player. He went through [qualifying], so he's playing amazing tennis.

"We already knew how Laslo can play, so I played my best. Today was with my heart. Today was with pain, and we got through. There is one match to go, so let's go for it."

Standing in his way of a maiden title is Cerundolo, who took just over an hour-and-a-half to wrap up a 6-2 6-4 win over Pedro Martinez.

The fifth seed, who beat world number two Alexander Zverev earlier this week, now looks to go one better in Buenos Aires, where he was runner-up four years ago.

"I'm super happy to be in the final again here," he said. "Now, I'm more experienced,og777 app and I know how to deal with these moments.

"I'm going to expect a really tough match. Joao is an amazing player, a top guy. He's been playing amazing this week."

Meanwhile, Miomir Kecmanovic and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will go head to head in the Delray Beach International final.

The Serbian, who was runner-up to Taylor Fritz here in 2023, took 90 minutes to wrap up a 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 victory over third seed Alex Michelsen.

SAARI Faizal of Malaysia scored two goals for his side, while SAARI Fitri added another, and ANUAR Akhimullah opened the scoring in the first quarter.
